Acceptable Use Policy
The rules for using Bindseal — and the promises we make back to you about how protection is allowed to behave.
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) is part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses the Bindseal Service. It exists to keep the Service safe and lawful, and to make sure anti-tamper protection is never turned against the people who paid for your software.
1. You must not
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to distribute malware, spyware or unwanted software;
- Protect or distribute content that infringes others’ rights or that you have no right to distribute;
- Attempt to extract another customer’s keys or license data, or to break, overload, probe or circumvent the Service or its security;
- Use the Service to build a competing licensing service from our non-public interfaces;
- Resell or sublicense the Service except as expressly permitted;
- Send us, or process through the Service, special-category personal data or data you are not permitted to process.
2. Honest protection — what you must not do to your own customers
Bindseal is built on the principle that protection should raise the cost of piracy without punishing honest buyers. You agree that you will not:
- Use Bindseal to remotely disable, brick or hold hostage software a customer has already paid for;
- Use protection to extort additional payment for continued use of something already licensed;
- Market software protected with Bindseal as “uncrackable”, “piracy-proof” or otherwise unbreakable — because it isn’t, and claiming so on our platform misleads your customers.
3. Our commitments to you
We hold ourselves to the same standard:
- License verification works offline, and online checks fail open within a configurable grace window, so an outage on our side doesn’t lock a licensed customer out of your game;
- When your agreement ends, we issue a signed, perpetual release grant that winds protection down cleanly — we never remotely disable your already-shipped builds;
- We document the real strength of every protection mode, including what it does not do.
4. Fair use of infrastructure
Use the Service in a way that does not place an unreasonable or disproportionate load on it. If your usage threatens the stability or security of the Service, we may contact you to find a fair arrangement.
5. Enforcement
If we believe you are violating this AUP, we may ask you to stop, suspend affected functionality, or — for serious or repeated violations, or where required to protect others — suspend or terminate the Service, consistent with the Terms. Where practical and lawful, we will give notice and an opportunity to fix the problem first.
6. Reporting abuse
